Causes of hearing aid feedback and how to handle them?
Hearing Aid Feedback:
A lot of hearing aid users may not be a stranger to feedback on their devices. It is the loud screeching or a buzz emitting from the hearing aid. It is normally not an issue but, people hate it when they encounter this situation in public. Especially when they are conscious not to reveal that they have a hearing aid device on them. So, probably they might pay a visit to their Hearing aid centre in Chennai for consultation. That is the advisable course of action whenever you hear feedback or any other issues for that matter.
There is no need to worry about getting feedback from your hearing aid as it is normal. On the bright side, this issue is slowly reducing as the devices get updated with newer technology. But if they must face a problem, you can solve it to an extent by yourself.
What causes hearing aid feedback?
When the amplified sound leaves your ear canal but if it re-enters your hearing device, the sound is again intensified. It offsets the balance in the mechanism and feedback is the result of it. You may not experience this issue on the latest devices from Siemens hearing aid dealers in Chennai. But if the issue persists, it is good to know what causes it before you can address them.
Types of hearing aid feedback
These are the common types of feedback you may encounter:
- Acoustical Feedback – It happens if the sound is received by the microphone of the hearing device without entering the ear canal. The increased sound may cause the disturbance because of the re-amplified sound waves.
- Mechanical Feedback – You may experience this feedback as a result of any unwanted vibrations on the hearing aid speaker arising out of your movements.
- Electronic Feedback – As the name suggests, any inconsistencies or damages in the hearing aid electrical circuit may cause this feedback.
Causes of feedback
Even though most of the hearing devices feature a feedback cancellation tool. They still might be prone to emitting feedback in the following cases:
1 – Your hearing aid device may not fit you perfectly
More often than not, the problem is the fit of your hearing device. Getting feedback may not necessarily mean that your aid is faulty. It is always the right thing to get advice from an Audiologist in Chennai for the proper fitting of the instrument. The ear shape may change over the years and the position of the device may no longer be suitable for you. In that case, the sound waves miss your ear canal and go back into the device. So adjust the device to fit your ear shape perfectly.
2 – Increased volume
Sometimes, you may increase your volume to listen better. It may cause feedback to arise when you do that. This is because the hearing device can handle only a certain level of decibels and when the limit exceeds, you may hear a whistling sound
3 – Broken Tubes
The connecting tube to the earmold can become stiff or broken during prolonged use. It can even tug the mold so that it fails to fit inside your ears. Even though the Hearing aid price in Chennai may be high, it is advised to buy the best quality irrespective of the price.
Ensure that you get periodic maintenance and guidance from your hearing aid professional to sort out any issues during use.
