Are Two Hearing Aids Better Than One?
Almost all of the things that you see in your daily lives are in pairs. Even the whole anatomy of the human body is that way. Why? Two organs work efficiently than one. So, will that apply to hearing aids? Are two hearing aids better than one? This question is something that needs to be answered by your audiologist in Chennai. The doctor will judge the severity and extent of the hearing loss before any recommendations.
However, this blog post will explore the benefits of wearing two hearing aids and how it works better than one. No matter what, nothing shall take more importance than your audiologist’s advice.
Are two hearing aids necessary?
The decision depends on the test results. If the hearing loss is significant in both ears, then it is a case of binaural hearing loss. So, a person would need bilateral hearing aids. Most people would be hesitant to get two devices because of the cost. But, the Bilateral hearing aid price in Chennai at Adro Hearing Aid is very economical to other brands.
Irrespective of the costs, a person must choose a reputed brand that offers a lot of features for the user.
Benefits of using Binaural Hearing Aids
1 – Helps to judge the source of sound accurately
There is this concept called the localization or the source of the sound. It is very crucial as it gives us a sense of direction. Only when we know the origin of the sound, can we respond to it in the right way. The brain judges the source by the time it takes for the ears to catch it. For example, if the sound hits the left ear first, the object is in the left.
When a person uses one hearing aid, this order of nature is disturbed and he cannot judge the source correctly. It leads to wrong reflexes. For example, turning towards the left when a person is calling out to the right. In such a case, you might have to pay a visit to the nearest hearing aid centre in Chennai for professional help.
2 – Head Shadow effect
Say a person is wearing a hearing aid in the left ear. Someone from his right side calls out to him. Here, the sound waves will travel around the head and reach the left ear. During this transmission, the sound might have got disrupted. It leads to a loss of sound clarity. It is termed the Head Shadow effect. This issue can be avoided when you use two hearing aid devices.
3 – Reduction in background nois
The biggest challenge for the Siemens hearing aid dealers in Chennai is to provide customers with the best hearing experience. Most devices now come with advanced features that excel at separating speech from the background noise. It works best when a person wears two hearing aid devices.
Since both the machines will be set on a lower volume, feedback is removed without compromising sound quality.
4 – Auditory Deprivation
The hearing must be balanced in both ears. If a person uses one hearing device, the hearing loss in the other ear might increase. It is called Auditory Deprivation.
Using one or two devices depends on your doctor’s advice. Visit Adro Hearing Aid to purchase a branded hearing aid machine in Chennai along with excellent service.
