Decibel (dB) – The unit used to measure the intensity or loudness of sound.

Degree of Hearing Loss – Terms utilized to represent the thresholds of hearing grafted onto an audiogram to help describe the different degrees of hearing impairment expected. One commonly used scale is: mild = 25 to 40 dB, moderate = 41 to 55 dB, moderately–severe = 56 to 70 dB, severe = 71 to 90 dB, and profound = greater than 90 dB.
